Mr. Willie Earl Jacob, Jr., 65 of Hamburg, AR, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Ashley County, and was a self-employed auto salvage dealer. He was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Earl Jacob, and one brother, Bruce Jacob. Mr. Earl was very involved in the community. He served as a Hamburg City Councilman for 12 years, on the Hamburg Community Clean-up Committee & the Juneteenth Committee. He also served as Sunday School Superintendent at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church for 15 years. He enjoyed eating at the coffee shop, talking with friends and mentoring young men in his community.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Mae Sue Jacob, two sons, Derrick Jacob of Bastrop, LA, Corey Scales of Hamburg, AR, one daughter, Stephanie Yarbrough of Hamburg, AR, his mother, Sarah Jacob of Hamburg, AR, his step-mother, Ellawease Jacob of Monticello, AR, five brothers, Willie James Jacob, wife Carol of Kansas City, MO, Earnest "Pete" Jacob of Little Rock, AR, Charles Jacob of Hamburg, AR, Bobby Robinson, wife Betty of Little Rock, AR and Lonnie Walker of Monticello, AR, four sisters: Willie Mae Rogers of Compton, CA and Regina Jacob, Sheila Jacob and Margie Lundy all of Monticello, AR, ten grandchildren and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
Funeral services are Friday, March 29, 2013 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, 203 E. Parker St., Hamburg with Rev. Gwain Hammock, Rev. Cindy Robinson & Rev. Willie R. Taylor, officiating. . Pallbearers are Walter Jenkins, Curtis Howard, Robert Scates, John Ware, Hollis McQuay & Johnny Stanley. Honorary pallbearers are the Mt. Zion Mens Sunday School Class and the Hamburg City Council members. Burial in Phillip Grove Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
