Mr. Willie James Danzy, age 88, died Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, AR.  He was a native of Parkdale, AR, but a longtime resident of Crossett, AR.  He was a member of Davis Memorial COGIC where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, trustee, and Finance Committee Chairman. He was employed by Rose Inn, foreman at Georgia-Pacific Particle Board where he saved the life of a fellow employee, Crossett School District, Delta Counseling, and owner of a lawn service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his bicycle, watching game shows, and taking care of his yard.  He also enjoyed serving his church, his family and he loved the community of Crossett.

Mr. Danzy was preceded in death by his wife, Lee Hester Simmons Danzy (1972), his daughter, Detria Danzy Starr (2021), his parents, Ellis Danzy, Sr. and Illeen Thomas Danzy, four brothers, Eddie, Leroy Sr., Steven, and Robert Lee Danzy, and five sisters, Nancy Williams, Emma Burdette, Ola B. Moore, Ernestine Gayles, and Verleen Matheney.

He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Brenda and husband Henry Gaston of Fayetteville, AR, and Wilda and husband Edward Johnson of Houston, TX, two sons, James Fitzgerald Danzy of Fayetteville, AR, and Willie Anthony and wife April Danzy of Crossett, AR; special daughter, Tiffany and husband Edward Morgan of Hamburg, AR, two God-daughters, Evelyn Woods of Montrose, AR, and Renee Hunt Sanders of Jacksonville, AR; three brothers, Ellis Danzy and wife Aretha of Crossett, AR, Supt. Samuel Charles and wife Rowena Danzy of Cleveland, OH, and James and wife Shirley Danzy Sr. of Dermott, AR; four sisters, Jewel Smith of Las Vegas, NV, Margaret Richmond and Shirley Williams both of Little Rock, AR and Linda and husband John Paige of Dermott, AR; eleven grandchildren, Timotheus Danzy, Samuel Starr, Davina Starr, David Starr, Jr., Arsenio Gaston, Arstina Gaston, Ana Gaston, Jennifer Johnson, Micaela Johnson, Jamie Jones, Jeremy Jones, and Drew Danzy, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral service is Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Living Word COGIC in Crossett, AR with Supt. Ronald A. Matheney officiating. Visitation is Friday, August 18, 2023, 5:00-6:00 at Living Word COGIC. Pallbearers are Rahmel King, Arsenio Gaston, Samuel Starr, Edrick Danzy, Darius Campbell, and Drew Danzy. Honorary pallbearers are Jeffery Woodberry, Anthony Danzy, James Danzy, Tim Danzy, Ralph Matheney, Rickey Matheney, Dr. Robert Matheney, Alvin Simmons, and Fredie Norwood. Burial in Westview Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
