Rev. William Caldwell, Jr.'s Obituary
Rev. William Caldwell, Jr., 72 of Crossett, AR, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. He was a native of Parkdale, AR, but a resident of Crossett for the past 25 years, a retiree of Jefferson Smurfitt and a member of Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Caldwell, his parents: William & Versie Mae Hudson Caldwell and one sister, Magalene Lewis. He was the current pastor of New Light Missionary Baptist Church in Portland, AR and the current pastor of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in McGehee, AR. He was the chaplain of the Southeast District Singing Union #3, and was a Mason.
He is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Dorothy Lee Bryant Caldwell, five sons, Albert Caldwell of Hamburg, AR, William Caldwell II, wife Calion, Tommy Lee Caldwell, wife Glenda and William Caldwell III, wife April all of Crossett, AR and Dennis Caldwell of Grady, AR, seven daughters: Cassie Griffin, husband Curtis of Oakland, CA, Betty Weston, husband Leon, Doris Caldwell, husband Chester, Ruth Conley, husband Eddie all of Eudora, AR, Annie Collins, husband Lloyd Henry of Hamburg, AR, Michelle Robinson, husband Douglas and Cherrelle Caldwell all of Crossett, AR, seven brothers: Robert Caldwell, wife Cora of Crossett, AR, Wilbert Caldwell, wife Annette, Arthur Caldwell, John Caldwell, wife Dorothy all of St. Louis, MO, Melvin Caldwell, wife Vera of Parkdale, AR, Oliver Caldwell, wife Latonda of Hamburg, AR, and Elijah Caldwell, wife Patricia of Oklahoma, ten sisters: Elva Jean Caldwell of St. Louis, MO, Travis Mae Jones of Bonita, LA, Georgia Holmes, husband Eugene, and Worthy Woods of Portland, AR, Mazie Russell, husband James, Melissa Caldwell and Belinda Faye Caldwell all of Eudora, AR and Latrice Taylor, Mary Lou Livingston & Miranda Thompson all of Parkdale, AR, forty-one grandchildren and forty-five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 1:00 PM at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Witherspoon officiating. Pallbearers are Lloyd Collins, Bennie Lee, Larry Richardson, John Gossett, Eli Frazier, Henry Hampton, Michael Richardson & Lakendrick Woods. Honorary pallbearers are sons. Visitation Friday, April 18 from 6-7 PM at Cromwell Funeral Home. Burial in Westview Cemetery.
