Mr. William Blalark, 87, of Portland, AR, died Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Monroe, LA. He was a native of Parkdale, AR and a retired postal employee. He served his country proudly in the United States Army and he was a member of Shady Grove A.M.E. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tigson & Ethel Adams Blalark, and one sister, Beatrice Martin. William enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, fishing, and watching football, basketball and baseball.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Norma Jean Blalark, one son, William Blalark, Jr. of Long Beach, CA one step-son, James Lee Culbreath, Jr., wife Tonya of St. Charles, MO, one sister, Mattie Wilson of Los Angeles, CA, one granddaughter, Kaylia Culbreath of St. Charles, MO, one god-daughter, Cathy Hill of Eudora, AR, one nephew, Earnest Martin, Jr., wife Joyce of Kansas City, MO, one great-nephew, Jarrett Wilson of Los Angeles, CA, and a host of other family, loved ones and friends.
Funeral services are Saturday, August 15, 2:30 pm at Shady Grove A.M.E. with Rev. James Hooper, officiating. Active pallbearers are Jonathan Webb, Matt Webb, Leo Bell, Kecal Johnson, Dennis Hampton & Dewayne Wall. Honorary pallbearers are the stewards and trustees of Shady Grove A.M.E. Church. Burial in Childress Chapel Cemetery.
