Obituary

Mr. William Eugene "Billy" Lewis, 83, of Crossett, AR died Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, AR. He was a native of Crossett, but a former resident of Daly City, CA for 43 years.  He was a supervisor for many years at Kelley-Moore Paint Company.  He was a member of Gates Chapel, AME Church.

He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Ashley County Training School in 1951 and attended AM&N College.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Elbert and Blanche Austin-Lewis; two brothers, Theophis and Joseph Lewis; two sisters, Kaye Wilson and Barbara Ware; and an aunt Odessa Brown.

Billy enjoyed reading and working cross word puzzles and loved all sports, but football was his favorite. The San Francisco 49ers and the Arkansas Razorbacks were his favorite football teams.

He is survived by one daughter, Gwendolyn Harris, and husband Aaron of Crossett; one brother, Elbert Lewis, Jr. of San Francisco, CA; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Services will be Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 11AM at Gates Chapel AME Church with Rev. Harriel White officiating. Pallbearers are William Willis, Curtis Boston, Jr., Leonard Campbell, Raymond Clark, Cornell Brown, and Charles Moore.  Honorary pallbearers are Myrick Ware, Brian Lewis, Aaron Harris, Izell Block, Ray Lewis, Chanslor Watson, James Reynolds, Samuel Johnson, Edgar Johnson, Jr., Fred Groves, Fred Evans, and Laron Simpson.  Burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery.

Viewing will be Friday, May 11, 2018, from 1-5PM, at Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc. in Hamburg.
