Mr. Wesley Wilson Fairchild, 95 of Hamburg, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Life Care Specialty Hospital in Farmerville, LA. He was born at the Arkansas Post on December 28, 1917 to G.W. and Sarah Elizabeth Shepard Fairchild. He was a lifelong native of Pendleton, a resident of Hamburg 54 years and the Mist Community for 17 years.
Mr. Fairchild retired from the Arkansas State Highway Department in 1981 and continued to own and operate a small engine repair shop which kept him active until the age of 84. Mr. Fairchld was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Legion Post 0075, Arkansas Retiree Association, and a past member of Cottonwood Hunting Club. He loved to garden and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Fairchild was of the Church of Christ Faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Earnestine Honeycutt Fairchild in 2007, his parents, G.W. and Sarah Shepard Fairchild, four brothers: L.D., Henry Lee, Arthur & Lawrence Fairchild and one grandson, Wendall Lane Pollock.
He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Pollock and husband Earl of Hamburg and Joyce Fairchild of Hamburg, two granddaughters, Dana Maxwell of Hamburg and Lisa Gilliam and husband Mat of Hamburg, three great-grandchildren, Jacob Maxwell of Jonesboro, AR, Ashlee Maxwell and Madison Lane Gilliam of Hamburg, one great-great granddaughter, Veronica Maxwell, one brother, Floyd Fairchild & wife Dixie of Hamburg and two special ladies, Christy Sawyer and daughter Haley and Carol Murphy husband Roy and daughter Cami Murphy all of Hamburg and a host of relatives, friends and loved ones.
Graveside funeral services are Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Extra Cemetery with Bro. Charles Miller, officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Troy Paskel, Johnny William Pierce, Freddie McNeil, Elum Richardson, Jack Pippen, Francis Jones, Randy Maxwell & Matt Gilliam
Viewing will be graveside Sunday, from 1:30 pm until funeral time.
