Vernestine Edwards, 81 of Chicago, formerly of Crossett died Sunday, September 4, 2011 in Chicago, IL. She was a native of Crossett but a resident of Chicago for the past 5 years, and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church of Crossett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis "LG" Edwards, two sons, Levell Edwards, and an infant son, her parents, James and Lizzie Brown two brothers, Leroy Hampton, and Sherwood Brown, seven sisters, Laura Johnson, Claudie Thompson, Vesti Summerville, Bethel Underwood, Myrtle Jackson, Lola Mae Miles, and Stella Mae Ruff.

She is survived by, five sons, Early Edwards, wife Barbara, Cardell Edwards,James Sherwood Edwards, Wayne Edwards, Eugene Edwards, wife Rita all of Crossett, six daughters, Faye Rochelle, husband Marvin of South Holland, IL, , LaJoyce Anderson, husband Locellous, Lizzie Jean Gibbs, husband Elbert Ray and Rosemarie Black, husband Manuel, all of Crossett, AR, Barbara Kaye Edwards of Chicago, IL and Annie Pearl Austin of Georgia, one sister, Eloise Bivens, husband Early of Crossett, AR, twenty nine grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Radford, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Cromwell Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Tony Ray Bridges, Donald Edwards, Benni Miles, Cardell Edwards, Lester Edwards, and Patrick Nalls. Honorary Pallbearers are Sherwood Edwards, Melvin Nalls, Reginald Nalls, Carlos Williams, Demetrius Edwards, Daryl Bryant, Dennis Edwards, and Randy Edwards. Burial in Westview Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
