Obituary

Mrs. Verdell Lowe, 90 of Crossett, AR, died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at her residence in Crossett. She was a Hamburg native but had resided in Crossett for the past 75 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church. Mrs. Lowe enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning. She loved God, her family and her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband James "Billy" Lowe, her parents, Albert & Martha Tucker Swain, three sisters: Vashtie Johnson, Beatrice Allen and Easter Swain, and one brother, Easton Swain.

She is survived by three daughters: Debra Barnes of Crossett, AR, Ethel Lowe Smith of Bastrop, LA, and Lexie Oliver of Kansas City, KS, one son, Jessie Lowe, wife Emogene of Crossett, AR one sister, Ollie Mae Griffin of Crossett, AR, thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Harriel White & Rev. Tyrone Broomfield, officiating. Visitation Tuesday, July 17 from 6-7 pm at Cromwell Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Kenneth Tolefree, William Willis, Tony Allen, James Adams, Herman Newton and Donald Flentroy. Honorary pallbearers are the Gates Chapel Stewardess Board, Sunday School Class #7, Senior Usher Board, Crossett Reunion Club and the WMS Local Missionary Society. Burial in Westview Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
