Supt. Foster Lee Winston, age 60, of Bastrop, Louisiana passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016 at his residence. He was a native of Mer Rouge, LA, a Preacher for 29 years, a retired Forklift Truck Driver for 40 years at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill and a member of the Greater First Church of God in Christ in Bastrop.
Supt. Winston was the former Pastor of Winston Temple #1 C.O.G.I.C. in Bastrop, Winston Temple #2 C.O.G.I.C. in Farmerville, and South Bastrop Church of Holiness in Bastrop, his greatest joy was preaching to people and leading them to Christ. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and an inspiration to all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vest and Bessie Mae Mitchell-Winston, one brother, Samuel Winston, four sisters, Dorothy Winston, Bessie Winston, Jerrie White and Louise Sylvester.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of 34 years, Leslie Gatson-Winston; four daughters: Foslesshia Winston, Tameka Winston, Leslie Winston, Jerrie Daniels, husband Willie all of Bastrop, LA; one son: Kenji Thaxton, wife Tiffany of Dallas, TX; two brothers: Supt. Jesse Winston, Sr., wife Mona of Bastrop, LA; Willie Robinson of Compton, CA; six sisters: Quentina Flowers, husband K.A, Concetta McNeal, husband Larry, Christine Jones, Jackie Burrell, husband Sherman, Norma Grant all of Bastrop, LA; Annie Phillips, husband Howard of Detroit, MI; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Services are 1:00PM Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Greater First C.O.G.I.C. in Bastrop with Bishop Alton Gatlin. Active Pallbearers are Elder Jesse Winston, Jr., Pastor Gabriel Winston, Minister Michael Winston, Bro. Seth Gatson, Jr., Bro. Albert Johnson and Bro. Colonel Evans. Honorary Pallbearers are Supt. Jesse Winston, Sr., Bro. Roosevelt James, Bro. Seth Gatson, Sr., Bro. Chris Gatson, Dec. Kenneth Flowers, Bro. Steve Gatson, Bro. Kenji Thaxton and Pastor Larry McNeal. Burial in Red Hill Cemetery in Bastrop.
