Sonja Jaye Barfield, 79, of Hamburg, AR, died Tuesday October 4, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. Ms. Barfield a native New Albany, MS was a retiree from Hamburg Shirt Factory and a member of Martinville Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her grandchildren.

Ms. Barfield was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Oliver Wendell Barfield (2003), an infant son Oliver Wendell Barfield Jr. (1965), her parents J.T. (2020) and Blanche Myers Willard (2001), and one sister Karen Wood (2018).

Ms. Barfield is survived by one son Jonathan Barfield (Sonya) of Hamburg, AR, two daughters Betty Lynn Gantt, Hamburg, AR, and Deborah Shaver (Shannon) Zachary, LA, one brother Jackie Willard of Pontotoc, MS, one sister Jeannie Pence (Terry) Pontotoc, MS, seven grandchildren, Patrick Stanley, Chris Barfield, Kaylon Moffatt, Laura Cynova, Hope Jones, Chloe Higginbotham, and Matthew Gantt, seventeen great-grandchildren, a host of other family and friends.

Viewing will be Thursday October 6, 2022, at Cromwell Funeral Home Chapel from 10 AM – 11 AM. Funeral Service will be Thursday October 6, 2022, Cromwell Funeral Home Chapel at 11 AM officiated by Minister Clayton Hales. Pallbearers are J.R. Bergeron, Gary Higginbotham, Terry Pence, Dustin Moffatt, Bob Poole, and Justin Poole. Burial at Flat Creek Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
