Shirley Jean Taylor, age 81 of Forney, TX, formerly of Wilmot, AR transitioned on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett, AR. She was a native of Eudora, AR, past resident of Forney, TX, a Certified Nursing Assistant, and a cook for the Hamburg School District. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Second Baptist Church and she also attended Kingdom Living Church in Forney, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Taylor, daughter, Regina Cox, two sons, Sherwood and Michael Cox, one grandson, Alvis Aaron Jordan, Jr., two brothers, Robert and Lacy Brooks Jr. Mrs. Taylor was an excellent cook, who enjoyed singing old hymns, watching the T.V. show Family Feud, and going to the casino.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Alvis Aaron Jordan, Sr., of N. Little Rock, AR, Anthony Ruff of Wilmot, AR, and Mustafa Elshabazz of Houston, TX, three daughters, Shirlon DeVeres-Criddell and husband Michael Criddell of Forney, TX, Tammy Cox and Yolanda Cox both of Houston, TX., foster daughter Regina Randolph of Kansas City, MO, special daughters, Carolyn Clayborn of Little Rock, AR, and Tejuan Smith of Dallas, TX, best friend for over 45 years Louise Williams of Wilmot, AR, Alvin Cox Sr of Jackson, MS, eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a host other family, and friends.

Funeral services are Saturday February 3, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Wilmot, AR at 11:00 A.M. officiated by Minister Michael Criddell. Active Pallbearers are Kentrell Lindsey, Steven Brooks, William Lewis, Jeremiah Criddell, Michael Block, Paul Maxwell, Jamal Dunn, and Herbert Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Alvis Jordan Sr., Anthony Ruff, Adrian Moore, Jacarrius Jordan, Jordan Paris, and Mustafa Elshabazz. Burial will be in Second Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc. of Hamburg, AR.

Visitation is Friday, February 2, 2024, 5:00-7:00 at Cromwell Funeral Home.
