Mr. Sherman Lee "Red" Reed, 81 of Crossett, AR, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at his residence in Crossett. Mr. Reed was a native of Fairbanks, LA, a former resident of Chicago for 42 years, and a resident of Crossett for the past 38 years. He was a retired diesel mechanic, and a Baptist, and was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie & Anna Girtman Reed, three brothers, Nathaniel "Beby" Reed, James "Bo" Reed & Andrew "Ray" Reed, and one sister, Betty "Tiny" Reed. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by one son, Frankie Briggs of Huttig, AR, one daughter, Sharon Reed Owens of Little Rock, AR, two step-daughters, Charlotte Redding of Tampa, FL & Anita Dysard of Little Rock, AR, two brothers, John "Cupee", wife Susie Reed of Crossett, AR & Herman Lee Reed of Monroe, LA, two sisters, Ruby Prevard of Chicago, IL and Stella, husband Clarence Hill of Monroe, LA, two granddaughters, Ashley Harris & Laquista Reed, five great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Kyonil McKee of Bastrop, LA.
Memorial services are Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 2:30 PM at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Murlee Carter, officiating. Remains were cremated.
