Mr. Samuel Cobb, age 74, of Hamburg, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Ashley County Medical Center. He was a native of Parkdale but was a past resident of Oakland, CA for a number of years. He had been a resident of Hamburg for the past 19 years. Mr. Cobb was a retired  US Army Veteran and served his country in the Vietnam Era where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Francis Armistead Cobb; two brothers, Charlie Cobb Jr, Benjamin Cobb, two sisters, Mary Lou Simmons and Sue Cobb.

Mr. Samuel was a devoted husband, and father. He enjoyed tennis, golf, and loved doing carpentry work.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth Miller Cobb, two sons, Samuel Cobb Jr of Oakland, CA; Johnny Miller of Pine Bluff, AR; one sister, Mary Lee Cobb of Oakland, CA; four grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday April 4, 2017 from 6-7 pm at Cromwell Funeral Home in Hamburg. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Mt Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Willie R. Taylor officiating.

Pallbearers are Kelvin Oats, Larry Miller Jr, Phillip Brock, Keith Miller, McCoy Franklin and  Jesse Pam. Burial will be in Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home.
