Mr. Samuel Lawrence Arnold, Jr., "Lil Sam", 40, of Hamburg, AR, died on August 7, 2015 in Drew County, AR. He was a native of Chicago, IL, but a resident of Hamburg for 38 years. He was an employee of Barnes Lumber Company, and was a member of Soldiers Chapel A.M.E. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Samuel Lawrence and Evelyn Gray Arnold, two brothers, James & Lawrence Arnold, his paternal grandparents, Rev. Robert & Sutilla Primm Arnold and his maternal grandparents, Joseph & Mattie Hutchins Gray, and one niece, Syncere Arnold. Sam enjoyed listening to music, cooking, watching movies, fishing and spending time with his children and family. He was a gentle giant who loved everyone regardless of race or gender.
He is survived by one son, Jontavious Barfield of Bastrop, LA, two daughters, Sayveeon & Amilleeon Arnold both of Hamburg, AR, six sisters: Sharon Walls (Andre) of Lake Village, AR, Meyonna Arnold & Lawanda Simpson both of Monticello, AR, Peggy Brown (Earl) of Bastrop, LA, Carolyn Cromwell (James) of Fayetteville, NC, Chanel Carter (Donald) of Woodbridge, VA, five brothers: Raymond Arnold of Los Angeles, CA, Lawrence Arnold of Little Rock, AR, LaDerron Arnold of Eudora, AR, Brandon Brown of Hamburg, AR & Cleophus Robinson of Omaha, NE, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews other family, loved ones and friends.
Funeral services are Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John Arnold, officiating. Active pallbearers are Edward Brown, Mark Simpson, Vincent Mitchell, Willie Gulley, Todd Cox & Larry Adcock. Honorary pallbearers are the Hamburg High School Class of 1992. Burial in Johnson Memorial Cemetery.
