Mrs. Sammie Lee "Babe" Mays, 74 of Hamburg, AR, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Mays was a native of Dermott, AR, but a resident of Hamburg for the past 56 years, a homemaker, and a member of Emmanuel Temple C.O.G.I.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Mays, Sr., one son, Rodney O'Neal Mays, and her parents, Sammie Louis & Carrie Todd Haynes.

She is survived by five sons: Bishop Danny C. Mays, wife Carolyn, Supt. Jasper Mays, Jr., wife Erma, Willie Mays, wife Paula, Eddie Mays, wife Beverly and Phillip Mays, wife Gwen all of Hamburg, AR, six daughters, Alice Booker of Atlanta, GA, Alma Tolefree, husband Carl of Hamburg, AR, Gloria Jackson, husband L.E. of Nashville, TN, Cora Hicks, husband Robert of El Dorado, AR, Melinda Bess, husband Carl of Ft. Pierce, FL & Renea Isom of Round Rock, TX, two sisters, Willie Mae Woods and Hazel Richards of Hamburg, AR, thirty-one grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Services are Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Supt. Frank Anderson & Bishop Danny C. Mays, officiating. Visitation Wed., June 18 from 6-7 at Cromwell Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Clifford Hawkins, Wayne Pugh, Glen Stanley, Willie Ashford, Barney Woods & Frank Woods. Burial in Johnson Memorial Cemetery.
