Obituary

Mrs. Sallie Lee Washington Jackson, 88 of Crossett, AR, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Cherry Ridge Nursing Home in Bastrop, LA. She was a native of Winchester, AR, and a Crossett resident for 83 years. She was a former employee of Crossett Health Center, now Ashley County Medical Center and Ashley County Cooperative Extension Service.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Rev. B.J. Jackson, one daughter, Dorothy Miller, her parents, Willie & Edna O'Neal Washington, two brothers, Levell Washington, Willie Washington and one sister, Elizabeth Williams.

Mrs. Jackson had been member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church since the age of nine. She had served as Youth Director, on the Senior Usher Board, as Director of the Youth Usher Board and as Sunday school teacher of Class #9. She was an Eastern Star, and had served as Associate Matron of Silver Star Chapter #306 and as Matron of the Eastern Star Youth Fraternity. She enjoyed needle pointing and reading.

She is survived by one son, Charles Jackson, wife Mary of Oakland, CA, two daughters, Bobbie Hendrix of Florissant, MO & Betty Levy of Kansas City, KS, thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Funeral services are Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11:00 am at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Alexander officiating. Pallbearers are Charles Moore, James Phifer, T.L. Lowe, Ricky Sims, Albert Goodwin & Derrell Newton. Burial in Westview Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
