Supt. Roy Eason Matheney, Jr., 54 of Crossett, AR, died Friday, September 2, 2011 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was a lifelong resident of Crossett, AR, and was preceded in death by his father Bishop Roy Eason Matheney,Sr. on July 27, 2011. Supt. Matheney was a former machine operator at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill before retiring to the ministry full time in 2008. He was the Pastor and also a member of Davis Memorial C.O.G.I.C. He had pastored Davis Memorial for the past six years. In 2007, he was appointed Superintendant of the El Dorado South District. He was a member of the Crossett Minister's Alliance and he had formerly served on the Crossett City Council.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Dana Gill Matheney, one son, Jarod Matheney of Russellville, AR, one daughter, LaTonya Matheney of Hershey, PA, four step-daughters, Alica Simpson, husband Curtis, Tiffany Gill, Stephany Gill and Latoya Gill all of Crossett, AR, his mother, Mrs. Verlean Matheney of El Dorado, AR, five brothers: Dr. Robert "Dennis" Matheney, wife Beverly of New Orleans, LA, Elder Ronald Matheney, wife Helen of Camden, AR, Elder Rick Matheney, wife Lisa and Ralph Matheney all of Crossett, AR, and Elder Rodney Matheny of Conway, AR, one sister, Dr. Roselyn "Connie" St. Etienne, husband David of New Orleans, LA, four grandchildren, Kiarra, Quintavia & Quintarious and Zaelyn , and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and the Davis Memorial Church Family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 11:00 am at Davis Memorial C.O.G.I.C. Active pallbearers are Curtis Simpson, Hubert Ridgell, Darrick Erby, Clifton Simpson, Charles Douglas, Jessie Tate,Kenneth Tidwell, and Raymond Clark. Honorary pallbearers are his brothers and the Crossett High School Class of 1975. Visitation will be Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 5:30 to 7:30 at Davis Memorial C.O.G.I.C.
