Obituary

Rosie Lee Haney, age 76 of Forney, TX transitioned on Thursday December 28, 2023, at her home in Forney, TX surrounded by her family. She was a native of Lake Village, AR, and a resident of Forney for over eleven years. She worked as a restaurant waitress and attended St. Peters Baptist Church in Arkansas and Friendship West Baptist church in Dallas, TX.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents Jessie and Willie Mae Jackson-Cole and brother Jesse "Sonny" Cole Jr. (Betty Jo) of Lake Village, AR.

She graduated from Central High School. After graduation, she relocated to Chicago, IL to start a new life with her husband. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, and grandmother.

Rosie loved to experience the joys of life , watching old movies on TV, cooking, bowling, exercising, going to church, dining out and being in the company of her family. Shortly after relocating to Chicago, she took a position at The Original Pancake House, resulting  in a tenure of 36 years. While there she had the pleasure of serving celebrities such as Esther Rolle, Art Kelly, Muhammad Ali, Patrice Rushen, Wilt Chamberlin, and the Obamas, and many others.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Her husband of 57 years Alfred (AD) Haney of North Chicago, IL, one daughter Tracy Haney-Smith (Harold) of Forney, TX, two brothers, James Cole (Belinda) of Lake Village, AR, John Cole (Laura) of Little Rock, AR, four sisters Betty Lee Easterling of Benton Harbor, MI, Betty Jean Williams of New Rochelle, NY, Cora Dickson of Lake Village, AR, and Lorraine Clark (Raymond) of Crossett, AR, three grandchildren, Amanda, Nicholas and Trinity, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service will be Saturday January 6, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Woodson Temple Baptist Church in Lake Village, AR officiated by Rev. Arthur Lee Haney. Pallbearers are Marcus Dickson, Earl Dickson, Jr., Donald Wise, Billy Perry, Nicholas Cole, and Kedrick Cole. Burial at Woodson Temple Cemetery in Lake Village, AR under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home Inc of Hamburg, AR.
