Mr. Roger D. New, 80 of Crossett, AR, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Ashley County Medical Center. He was a native of Quitman, TX, a retired iron worker and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was also a US Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his step-son, Michael McClain, his parents, Frank & Cora Jones New, and four brothers: Leon Cook & John, Bob & Edward New. Roger enjoyed fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Betty Temple New, one son, Roger D. New of Farmerville, LA, two daughters, Beverly McClain New & Sue Jeffers both of Crossett, AR, one brother, Richard New, wife Linda of Atlanta, TX, four grandchildren: Brad Boykin, Ashley Shaw of Little Rock, AR, David New of Denham, TX, Elizabeth Barnes, husband Aaron of Virginia, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral services are Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Bro. David Tohlen & Bro. Eric Hodges officiating. Active pallbearers are Phillip Ross, David Thomas, Ricky Smith, Ross Sinks, Matthew New & Brad Boykin. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Whitaker, Acie Orr, Hubert Thomas & Billy Brooks. Burial in Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.

Visitation is Wednesday, May 15,2013 from 6-8:00 P.M. at Cromwell Funeral Home.
