Rodney Eugene Whaley, 53 of Little Rock, AR transitioned Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at his resident. He was a native of Monroe, LA but grew up in Crossett, AR. He worked as a software engineer for General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) in Little Rock and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Wallace, Jr., one brother Larone Wallace, maternal grandparents Leon Sr. and Delores Whaley, and paternal grandfather Woodrow Wallace, Sr. Rodney enjoyed listening to music, long-distance running, and participating in marathon running. He was an avid sports fan; his favorite teams were Syracuse Orange men's college basketball, Georgia Bulldogs college football, and the Cleveland Browns in the NFL.
He is survived by his mother, Ruby Jewel Whaley of Crossett, AR, one sister Chantel Miller of Baton Rouge, LA; his paternal grandmother, Willie Mae Wallace of Atlanta, GA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, other family, and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 30th, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Derrell Newton officiating. Pallbearers are Roscoe Benton, Jeremy Jenkins, Greg Payne, Antonio Reed, Charles Jenkins, Marlon Moore, Jr., and JaCarlo Whaley. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Whaley, Edward Rogers, Jr., Anthony Rogers, and the Crossett High School Class of 1991. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc. of Hamburg, AR.
