Mr. Robert Lee "Jack" Duckworth, 83 of Crossett, AR, died Saturday, October 5, 2013 in Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a member of Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church and a retiree of Georgia Pacific Paper Mill. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Woodzell & Lula Duckworth, two brothers, Leon & Floyd Duckworth, two sisters, Doris Stevens & Erma Beavers. Robert enjoyed outdoor activities; including fishing, riding & breaking horses and hunting. He served as president of the Duckworth Hunting club for over 40 years. Volunteerism was also important to him. His past volunteer duties include: serving his local church as Trustee, Steward and Church Treasurer, Vice-President of the Ashley County Cattleman's Association, the Kiwanis Club of Crossett and coordinator of the Annual Warren Family Reunion.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rose Marie Duckworth, two sons: Roderic Leon Duckworth, wife Cyneetha of Tallahassee, FL, Robert Chandler Duckworth, wife Asara of Rockwall, TX, one daughter, Iris Renee Duckworth of Shreveport, LA, four grandchildren, Joshua White, Asher, Leah and John Robert Duckworth, two special caregivers and relatives, Leondras Simpson and Ray Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are Friday, October 11, 2013 at 11:00 am at Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Robert Duckworth, Rev. Marvin Scott, Rev. Curtis Jackson, Rev. Willie R. Taylor and Rev. Charles Lovett, officiating. Active pallbearers are James Radford Duckworth, Kenneth Griffin, Felton Tatum, Larry Taylor, Keith Smith & Thomas Tolefree. Honorary pallbearers are Woodrow Beavers, Elbert Ray Johnson, Floyd Beavers, Leondras Simpson, Members of Duckworth Hunting Club and Stewards and Trustees of Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church. Burial in Quinn Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
Visitation Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 6-8 pm at Cromwell Funeral Home.
