Mr. R.L. Pollock, 73 of Hamburg, AR, but lived in the Berlin Community, died Tuesday, January 18, 2012 at the UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was a lifelong resident of Ashley County, a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Berlin Community, and a retired Georgia Pacific Forester Crewman. Mr. Pollock was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Around his Church he was known as "Candyman" because he was always passing out candy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Holland-Pollock, parents, Garland and El Vira Holland-Pollock, seven brothers, Alton, C.W., Horace, L.C., Ludell, Willard, and Willie Ray Pollock, four sisters, Carrie Chadwick, Lorene Morgan, Ruby, and Sue Holland.
He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Linder, husband Bobby, Rebecca Bates, husband Shawn all of Hamburg, two brothers, Earl Pollock, wife Wanda of Hamburg, Troy Pollock, wife Virginia of Anacoco, LA, one sister, Fayerene Rickman of Vidor, TX, six grandchildren, Bobby Jr., Joey, and Michael Linder, and Mary Beth, Dawson, and Jon Michael Bates, five great grandchildren, and a host of other family, and friends.
Funeral services are Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Berlin Community with Bro. Danny Merriweather and Bro. Elvin McDill, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers are Bobby Linder, Jr., Joey Linder, Michael Linder, Danny Smith, Jr., Robert Smith, and Anthony Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are John Young, John Daley, Bruce Sharpe, Richard Adams, Brian Russell, Dale Ramsey, William Smith, and Greg Callahan. Visitation is Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Memorials to be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Youth Department, P.O. Box 427, Crossett, AR 71635. Burial in Extra Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
