January 22, 1955 – September 30, 2024
Mr. Ricky Darnell Sims, age 69 of Crossett, AR, transitioned Monday, September 30, 2024, at Baptist Health Medical Center North in North Little Rock, AR. He was a lifelong resident of Crossett and a 1973 graduate of Crossett High School. Ricky was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, a member of Exodus Lodge #403, and a retiree of A D & N Railroad.
Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his parents Andrew "Pat" Sims, and his mother Celestine Wimberly Sims. He served as a member of the Ashley County Quorum Court and Justice of the Peace for 14 years. Ricky was a member of New Bethel's Usher's Ministry and President of the Southeast District Usher's Ministry. He enjoyed sitting on the porch, puffing his favorite cigar, and watching basketball. His favorite team was the San Antonio Spurs.
He leaves to cherish his memories wife of 51 years, Marva Scott Sims, one son Colon and wife Patrece Sims of Crossett, AR, one daughter, Wendy and husband Corey Simon of McKinney, TX, two brothers Michael and wife Rose Sims of Crossett, and Carl Sims of CA, one sister Patricia husband Van Dunn of Collinston, LA, a special sister/cousin Twilva "Cookie' Simpson of Hayward, CA, thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, other family members, and friends.
Visitation is Friday, October 4, 2024, from 6:00-7:30 PM at Cromwell Funeral Home. Funeral Service is Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Presiding Elder Tyrone Broomfield officiating. Active Pallbearers are Jeff Holyfield, Bernard Martin, Undra Reynolds, Derrick Webb, Derwin Pendarvis, James Antonio Jackson, Edward "Chuck" Brown, and Chad Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers are CHS Class of 1973, Raymond Canley, James Mitchell, Raymond Clark, and Antonio Reed. Burial in Quinn Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc of Hamburg.
