Mr. Richard Carl Polk, 65, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Hamburg, AR, died Friday, July 24, 2015 at College Park Rehabilitation Center. He was a native of Hamburg, a former resident of Chicago, IL, and a resident of Las Vegas for the past five years. He was a retired painter for Cook County Medical Center, and was a member of Soldiers Chapel A.M.E. Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Addie B. Gardner, one sister, Dorothy Jean Thompson and one brother, Johnny James Jimmerson on March 27, 2014. Richard was an avid sports fan. Basketball was his favorite sport and his favorite team was the Chicago Bulls.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Polk, three sons: Richard Polk of Salt Lake City, UT, Karl Polk of North Las Vegas, NV and Bryant Polk of Columbus, OH, two daughters, Tammy Hilliard of North Los Vega, NV & April Polk of Columbus, OH, his aunt, Ethel Pippen of Hamburg, AR, six grandchildren: Te'vion Reed, Jakhari Hilliard, Lailah Polk, Gregory Polk, Lillian Polk, Jaeliana and a host of other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Funeral services are Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10:00 am at Soldiers Chapel A.M.E. Church with Bishop Danny C. Mays, officiating. Active pallbearers are Carl Pippen, Jimmy Pippen, Keith Griffith, Jeff Tucker, Lawrence Fleming & Samuel Thomas. Honorary pallbearers are Te'vion Reed, Gregory Polk, Jamie Hancock and Jackson Hilliard. Burial in Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
Visitation Friday, August 7, 2015 from 6-8 pm in the chapel of Cromwell Funeral Home.
