Obituary

Raymond Blair, the son of Mr. Robert Blair and Mrs. Odessa Williams Blair was born August 22, 1948 in Stephens, Arkansas and died March 11, 2013.

He received his early religious education at New Bethel A.M.E. Church in Buena Vista, Arkansas and served as a junior superintendent. Later, he joined Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church and was a member of Class # 7 and Wednesday Bible Class.

In 1966 he graduated from Carver High School in Stephens, Arkansas. He received a Business Administration degree in 1971 from Southern State College in Magnolia, Arkansas.

Mr. Blair was an employee of Georgia Pacific Paper Mill for thirty five years. He retired as a Winder Operator.

A former Crossett School Board member, he was an avid reader and loved watching sports and westerns and spending time with his grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Ricky Blair, and his sister, Linda Alexander.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Ramonda Blair Fields, and grandson, Triston Fields, of Everman, Texas; mother of his children and caregiver, Gloria Blair, of Crossett, Arkansas; three brothers; Horace Alexander of Kansas City, Missouri, Ray C. Blair and his wife Jean of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ira J. Blair of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Reatha Weaver and her husband James, of Camden, Arkansas, Ophelia Johnson and her husband Will, of Long Island, NY; a special friend, Virgie Haynes of Monticello, Arkansas; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 18, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Harold White, officiating. Active Pallbearers are Donald Flentroy, Donald Baldwin, John Wright, Perry Johnson, Ulysses Haynes, Jr., Robert Cornelius, Jr. and James Adams. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Duke, Robert Cornelius, Sr., Artis Quinn Moore, Aaron Harris, Jr., Harvey Duke, Carl Lee Tucker, Ralph Jackson, Charlie Ford, Rodney Wade, Leroy Davis, David Childress, Samuell Jones, William Willis & James Smedley. Burial in Westview Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm, Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Cromwell Funeral Home.
