Mrs. Raye Marie Moss, 84, of Lake Village, AR, died Friday, September 14, 2018, at the McGehee Hospital. She was a native of Crossett, AR, but a resident of Lake Village for 59 years. She was a retired school teacher and a member of St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lake Village.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Malvin A. Moss; her parents, Walter and Letha Hughes-Evans; seven sisters, Odessa Bennett, Arnell Streeter, Velma Brown, Vernice Gilbert, Artelia Evans, Wilnar Lambert, and Irene McGee. Raye loved God and her church, where she worked faithfully as choir director for many years, as well as other departments in her church. She loved her family, teaching, and her students. She felt that every child could learn if someone cared enough to spend the time to teach them. She served as Vice President of the Chicot County Retired Teachers Association and Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. She worked throughout the city of Lake Village and county doing volunteer work.
She is survived by two daughters, Tonja Jackson-Hudson, of Little Rock, AR, and RheDonda Jackson-Palmer(John), of Lake Village, AR; grandchildren that she raised, Falana Jackson-Rice(Robert), of Little Rock, AR, Angelo Greene Sr., of Little Rock, AR, and Chaunea Jackson-Mosley, of Lake Village, AR; great grandchildren that she raised, Benny Mosley III, Mia Marie Mosley, Toraylan Smith, and Angelo Greene, Jr.; three special nieces; and a host of other family and friends.
Services will be Saturday, September 29, 2018, at 11:00AM, at Faith Fellowship in Lake Village, AR, with Rev. Charles S. Boyd and Rev. Jesse Washington officiating. Active pallbearers are Robert Dickson, Kenny Lucas, Billy Perry, Lonnie Palmer, Larry Palmer, Ronnie Wilson, Dale Young, and Randy Brown. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Chicot County Retired Teachers Association. Visitation will be Friday, September 28, 2018, 5:00-7:00PM, at St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lake Village, AR.
Burial will be in New Cemetery in Lake Village, AR under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc.
