Mr. Preston Hawkins, Jr., 77 of Crossett, AR, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at his home. He was a native of Crossett, AR and a former 40 year resident of Chicago, IL. He was a member of Campground A.M.E. Church, was a retired baker.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Daniels Hawkins, his son, Christopher Hawkins, his father, Preston Hawkins and three brothers: Clifton Hawkins, Jerry Hawkins and Franklin D. Hawkins, two sisters, Audrey Lee Hughes & Martha Hendrix. Preston served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and he was also an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Crooked Creek Hunting Club.

He is survived by his wife of ten years, Edith Jordan Hawkins, four sons: Dexter Hawkins of Madison, WI, Cedrick Hawkins (Demetris) of Chicago, IL, Gregory Hawkins (Dorothy) of Crossett, AR and Preston Hawkins III of Madison, WI, two daughters, Michelle Ucheoma (Chinaemerem) of Madison, WI and Imani Tidwell of Conway, AR, his mother, Juanita Hawkins "Nita" of Crossett, AR, three sisters: Ruby Hubbard (Freddie) of Little Rock, AR, Thelma Hawkins & Eula Hawkins both of Crossett, AR, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, loved ones and friends.

Funeral services are Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 11:00 am at Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Karal Hammock, officiating. Active pallbearers are Nakia Hawkins, Bernard Martin, Perry Williams, Larry Rogers, Clifford Hawkins and Marcus Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Crooked Creek Hunting Club. Burial in Carlock Cemetery.

Visitation Friday, July 17, 2015 from 6-7:30 in the chapel of Cromwell Funeral Home.
