Obituary

Mr. Percy Douglas Sowers, age 74, of Crossett died Wednesday, April 4,2018 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was a native of Crossett,  but a resident of Chicago for 43 years.  He is a retired truck driver and a member of First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Clark-Sowers, his parents Beirk and Lavern Boston-Sowers, and one sister, Jacqueline Y. Sowers, and his grandparents, Will and Mary McGee-Boston.  Percy enjoyed being a DJ, fishing, and watching old western movies.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Mattie Mae Collins-Sowers; one daughter,  Karen Sowers-Holman of Crossett, three step-daughters, LaTiesha Taylor and husband Willie of Crossett, LaKiesha Collins of Crossett, and Pamela Washington of Bryant, Arkansas; two brothers, Hosea Sowers and wife Annice of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Benard Sowers and wife Brenda of Minneapolis,  Minnesota, one sister Donzelle Hannah and husband Rodney, of Roseville, California; two grandchildren, Jason T. Holman and Jarrett Holman;  five step grandchildren, Tyrone Duke,  Anthony Phillip, Tierra Logan, DeeRaymond Herman, and Willie Taylor, Jr.

Services will be Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00AM, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Curtis Jackson officiating. Burial in Westview Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Michael Boston, Curtis Boston, Jr., Terrian Keys, Willie Taylor, Sr., Jesse Kimble, Gordon Kidd, Marques Williams, and Willie Taylor Jr.  Honorary pallbearers Anthony Phillips, Tyrone Duke, DeeRaymond Herman, Don Franklin, Willie Taylor, Jr., and Raymond Frazier.  Visitation will be held Friday, April 6, from 5:30PM-7:00PM at Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc.
