Mr. Norman Smith, 76 of Kansas City, KS, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014. He was born on May 26, 1938 to Lucille Chilcoat and Matthew Smith. He was a native of Wilmot, AR, an employee of the Kansas City, KS School Board for over 24 years, and was a member of the Rising Star Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Lee Smith, his parents, Lucille Chilcoat & Matthew Smith, four brothers: Clarence Hill, Edward & Robert Oakman & Emil Graham, three sisters: Florence Green & Henrietta & Loretta Oakman.

Norman loved telling jokes and the same stories, he was a comedian and you had to listen and laugh. He knew how to encourage you, and was very supportive of you, no matter what state he was in. He loved his family and his church home family, and the new Pastor. He attended church when he could. He was a good father, and an awesome grandfather until God called him home. He was a dedicated husband, father and friend who will truly be missed.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Herbert Smith of Wilmot, AR, Kenneth Woods of Kansas City, KS, two daughters, Regina Smith of Minneapolis, MN & Margaret Bolton (Pastor Greg) of Kansas City, KS, one brother, Alfred Oakman (Marie) of Kansas City, KS, and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins & friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11:00 at Rising Star Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS. Graveside services and Burial was held on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 11:00 am at Walnut Grove Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
