Mrs. Naomi Shelton, 85, of Bastrop, LA died Monday, November 26, 2018 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA. She was a resident of Bastrop, LA, a native of Homer, LA, and a past resident of Denver, CO for over 30 years. She was a homemaker, worked as a caregiver for 15 years, attended the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Aurora, CO for 30 years, and recently attended the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Bastrop, LA.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Onzie Lee Leopold, Sr.; a son, Terry Shelton; a daughter, Barbara Ahmed; her parents, Solon and Laura Elizabeth Springs-Shelton; three sisters, Frances Grant, Catherine Rabb, and Pearlie Mae Doles; seven brothers, Connie, Sylvester, Clarence Otis, Lamar and Willie Grant, Prentice and Ozell Merritt. Naomi was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her children, family, and friends. She also enjoyed cooking.
She is survived by six sons, Roger Shelton, Sr., wife Kelly, Delerence Leopold, Sr., Steven Shelton, and Marcus Shelton all of Aurora, CO, Ernest Leopold, Sr., wife Lynetta, Onzie Leopold, Jr., wife Stacy, both of Bastrop, LA; three daughters, Sandra Thomas, husband Shannon, of Denver, CO LaRhonda Leopold-Lewis, husband Robert, and Cheryl Palmer, husband James, both of Bastrop, LA; one brother, Rodell Grant, of Denver, CO; two sisters, Verneiver Snell, of Aurora, CO, and Geneva Grant, of Salt Lake City, UT, thirty-two grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, November 30, 5:00-7:00 P.M., at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, 6870 Airport Road Bastrop, LA. Viewing will be Friday, December 7, 2018, 5:00-9:00 P.M., at Pipkin-Braswell Funeral Home, 6601 East Colfax Denver, CO. Memorial service will be held December 8, 2018, 11:00 A.M., at Aurora Central Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Aurora, CO and entombment will be in the Olinger/Eastlawn Memorial Garden in Aurora, CO.
Local services are under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc. of Hamburg, AR. Out of town service under the direction of Pipkin-Braswell Funeral Home, 6601 East Colfax Denver, CO.
