Obituary

Myrtle Marie Watt, age 80 of Wilmot, AR, died Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Lake Village Rehabilitation and Care Center. She was a lifelong resident of Wilmot, a retired educator and member of the Shady Grove AME Methodist Church.  Mrs. Watt received a formal education from Philander Smith College where she received her bachelor's degree and her master degree in Library Science from Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA.  She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta and was president of the Southeast Arkansas Alumni Club Mrs. Watt taught school in the Portland School District for 25 years and in the Hamburg School District for 16 years where she worked as a librarian until retirement.

Mrs. Watt was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Parker and Mable Lee Reed-Edwards; one brother, H.T. Taylor. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening and loved people.  She never met a stranger.  She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Mrs. Watt is survived by one son, Dewayne Watt of Wilmot, AR; one grandson, Austin Watt of Wilmot; a very close friend, Allen Wood of Little Rock, AR and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Services will be 11:00AM Thursday, October 26 th at Shady Grove AME Methodist Church with Rev. Ezelle Branch,  Rev. Albert Fenceroy, and Rev. Billy Sherrer officiating. Pallbearers are Robert Penn, Leroy Stanley, Thurnell Hymes, Larry Waters, Floyd Baker and Lloyd Collins.  Honorary Pallbearers are Lorenzo Woods, Gregory Walker, Arthur Calvin Walker, Andrew Metcalf, Charles Raino, Jimmy Stanley, Herbert Shelton, Lee Fred Brown, T. Arthur Moore, Marzelle Morris, Leroy Lindsay, William Jackson, John W. Dillard, Sterling Carey, Gerald Lowe David Hill, Lonnie and Donnie Martin and the Hamburg School District Transportation and Maintenance Department.  Viewing will be from 1:00 to 6:00PM at Cromwell Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial in Gospel Temple Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc.
