Logan, Jr.
February 22, 1924 – January 6, 2020
Mr. Millard Fillmore Logan, Jr., 95, of Crossett, died Monday, January 6, 2020 at the Northeast Louisiana Veteran's Home. He was a native of San Antonio, TX, a member of Gates Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, a retiree from the United States Navy, serving in World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War. Mr. Logan was a 32nd degree Mason, member of Eli Baker Lodge #62 F&AM, a Shriner, member of Menelik Temple #36 and a member of VFW Post 9360. He was a also a member and past patron of the order of Eastern Star Rebecca Chapter #56 and Victoria Consistory #25.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Boyce Lee Logan in September of 2015; his parents, Millard F. Logan Sr. and Rosie Nolan-Logan; one brother, James Logan; three sisters, Annie Gainer, Mildred North, and Rose Stevens. Millard enjoyed singing in the church choir, listening to jazz, playing golf, and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by one son, Steven Logan, from St. Marie, Montana; three stepdaughters, Toyce Newton, husband Herman, of Crossett, AR, Joyce Johnson, of Los Angeles, CA, and Valentina Culberson, husband Eric, of Oakland, CA; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Bradley, husband Tyron, Roderick Newton, wife Sancha, Marcus Newton, wife Kletra, Jamaal Williams, Jay Logan, Daniel Logan, wife Hollie, and Elizabeth Barker, husband Garth; seventeen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three nephews, Ervin Gainer, wife Gaynell, Alton North, Jr., wife Rachell, and Henry Stewart, wife Roberta; three nieces, Loretta Lee, husband Wyatt, Terri North-White, husband Burnell, and April Borreco; and his special caregivers, Sonia Augustine and Waymond Newton.
Funeral service will be Friday, January 10, 2020, 11 a.m., at Gates Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 305 West 3 rd Avenue Crossett, with Rev. Harriel White officiating. Pallbearers are Lee Simpson, Larry Taylor, Curtis Harris, Larry Rogers, Michael Boston, Freddie Hargraves, Charles Moore, and Walter Hendrix. Burial will be in Meadow Lawn Memorial Park in San Antonio, TX with full military honors.
Viewing will be Thursday, January 9, 2020, 1-5 p.m., at Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gates Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
