Mrs. Mechelle Harris, 58 of Crossett, AR, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in Monroe. She was a native of Lacey, AR, was a retired Deputy Director for Phoenix Youth & Family Services, and was a member of Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Leonard & Margaret Hubbard, her paternal grandparents, Thomas & Annie Mae Hubbard, her maternal grandparents, Jasper Phillips & Lillie Bell and her father and mother-in-law, Aaron & Jessie Mae Harris. Mechelle was very energetic, she enjoyed cheering for her grandson Rocky at his football and baseball games. She also enjoyed working in her flowers, shopping and working faithfully at her church.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Mr. Curtis Harris, three sons: Shadrick Wilson (Bernard) and Shadrick Wilson, Jr. "Rocky" both of Crossett, AR, Bryan Harris of Pine Bluff, AR, one daughter, Natasha Harris of Atlanta, GA, two brothers, Ronald "BoBo" Hubbard, wife Marilyn of Hamburg, AR, Patrick Hubbard of Norwood, MA, two sisters, Alveria "Tiny" Daniel, husband Minister Ricky of Fountain Hill, AR, Evelyn Simpson, husband Jessie of Hamburg, AR, four grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends, including her two best friends Vickie Scott and Sheilla Lawson.
Funeral services are Monday, September 28, 2015 at 11:00 am at Gates Chapel A.M.E. church with Rev. Harriel White, officiating. Active pallbearers are Larry Rogers, Cornell Brown, Edgar Johnson, Larry Harris, Mike Williams & Freddie Hargraves. Honorary pallbearers are James Allen, Larry Taylor, Michael Donaldson, Keenan Harris, Cameron Jacobs, Brandon Harris and the Stewards and Trustees of Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church. Burial in Westview Cemetery.
Visitation Sunday, September 27 from 4-6 pm in the Cromwell Funeral Home Chapel.
