Mr. McDavis Slade, 71 of Montrose died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. He was a native of Strong but a resident of Montrose for the past 2 years. He also lived in Milwaukee for a number of years. He was a retired AODA counselor for the State of Wisconsin. Education was important to him and he was devoted to counseling and helping others. Mr. Slade was a member of St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents: George Frank and Carrie Bell Slade.
He is survived by three sons: Timothy McDavis Slade of Little Rock, Arkansas, Julian McDavis Slade and McDavis Rashad Slade and wife Sonia both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two daughters: Tiffany Nicole Slade and partner Ray of Chicago, Illinois and Frenchanita Corbet Slade of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two brothers: George Slade, Jr. and Billy Slade both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; four sisters: Florial Wilson and husband Arthur and Gwendolyn Slade both of Montrose, Marie Leazer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Betty Ramsey and husband George of Racine, Wisconsin; eleven grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 11:00A.M. at St. Peters Baptist Church in Montrose with Minster Faye Sims officiating. Interment will be at Springhill Cemetery in Oakland, Louisiana under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
