June 13, 1951 – January 5, 2017
Mrs. Maxcine Prewitt, age 65, of Hamburg, AR passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe, LA. She was a lifelong resident of Hamburg, a retiree of Georgia Pacific Plywood Mill's Supply Room, and a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by one son: Raymond Prewitt (1981), her parents, Flanders and Lovie Collins-Lowe, three brothers, John Bridges, Willie Bridges Jr., and Ellis Lowe, four sisters, Pearlie Mae Watson, Ruthy Mae Freeman, Lucille Heard, and Linell Banks. Mrs. Prewitt was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, fishing, traveling, shopping and loved spending time with her family.
She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband of 43 years, Mr. James Prewitt, one son: Brandon Prewitt of Hamburg, AR; one step-son: James Prewitt Jr. of Atlanta, GA; five daughters: Janice Prewitt, Shanta Forrest husband Allen, Tysa Prewitt, Shaletha Prewitt all of Hamburg, AR; Karen Waters of Little Rock, AR; one brother: Alfred Robinson wife Etter of Hamburg, AR; eight grandchildren: Marekes Brewer, Dimitri Price, Denetrice Sims, Allen Forrest Jr., Andravyon Forrest, Amari Forrest, Chloe Prewitt, Courtney Prewitt, four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Services will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 404 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, Hamburg, AR 71646 with Rev. W. R. Taylor, officiating. Pallbearers are John Ware, Lawrence Booker, Jimmy Clark, Daniel Shelton, Clyde Leonard, and Jesse Cook. Honorary Pallbearers are the Hamburg High School Class of 1969 and the Mt. Zion Male Chorus. Burial in Phillip Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 6:00PM-7:00PM at Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc.
