Mrs. Mardell Cox, age 87, of Hamburg, AR passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022 at her home surrounded by family. She was a native of ElDorado, AR, but resided in Hamburg most of her life.  She was a former employee of Hamburg Shirt Factory and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert Cox, infant twin daughters, a son, Robert Cox Jr., and her parents, G. W. and Gladys Ford Ward. Mrs. Cox was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She served as a faithful usher of Mt. Zion Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.

She is survived by one son, Michael Cox of Hamburg, AR, a step-son, Carl James Cox and wife Pat of Crossett, AR, five daughters, Debra Fisher and husband Vernon, Mary Brown and husband J.C. , Linda Hawkins and husband Clifford, Marcella Wilson all of Hamburg, AR, and Wanda Daniels and husband Clarence of Fountain Hill, AR, one brother, Larry Ward of Seattle, WA, two sisters, Toni Wilford and husband Richard of San Diego, CA, and Mae Retta Bowen and husband Willis of Gary, IN, fifteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, and seventeen great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 19, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Bro. Derion Lowe and Pastor Mizell Hawkins officiating.  Burial will be in Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
