Obituary

Malvin "Squankum" Canley, age 74, of Crossett died Wednesday March 24, 2021 at his home in Crossett. He was a native of Crossett and grew up in the White Station community, past resident of Santa Monica, CA. He was of the Methodist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents Malvin and Earnestine"Tine"Canley; two brothers Calvin Odell Canley and Lardell Canley. Squamkum was a Vietnam Veteran recieving National Defense Service Medal, Army Accommodation Medal, Silver Star, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star and served with the 82nd Airborn and the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, writing songs, and singing.

He is survived by three brothers Raymond and Donnie Ray Canley both of Crossett, Russell Canley(Betina) of Bastrop, LA.; one sister Clarice Hendrix(Walter) of Crossett and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial service with military honors will be Tuesday March 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Cromwell Funeral Home with Reverend Bianca Canley officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Hendrix, Charley Brown, Robert Hendrix, Jonathon Canley, Kyler Canley and Eddie Hawkins.
