February 9, 1952 – July 11, 2017
Mabelean Curtis, 65 of Crossett, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. She was a native of Thebes, AR, a former math teacher at Portland High School, and a member of the Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church of Crossett. She enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family and going to church.
Mabelean was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Fannie Grayson-Curtis; one brother, Billy Joe Curtis.
She is survived by two sons, Willie Diamond (Kayla) and Brian Miles (Venita) both of Crossett; one daughter, Nicole Miles of Crossett; four brothers, Herman 'Bo' Curtis (Henrietta) of Montrose, Roy Curtis (Sheila) of Crossett, Troy Curtis (Margaret) of Kansas City, MO and Terry Curtis of Baton Rouge, LA; four sisters, Mary Curtis and Susie Reed (John) both of Crossett, Bernice Sharp of Rockford, IL and Mattie Hardway (Joe) of Memphis, TN; eight grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service is Tuesday, July 18
th
at 11:00AM at Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church in Crossett with Rev. Harriel White officiating. Pallbearers are Maurice Williams, Marcus Williams, Walter Jordan, George Brown, Dewin Pendarvis, and Jimmy Thorton. Honorary pallbearers are the Portland High School class of 1970.
Visitation is Monday, July 17 th from 5:30PM - 7:00PM at the funeral home. Burial is in Westview Cemetery.
