April 28, 1956 – July 12, 2020
Mr. Luther Ray Blakley, 64, of Crossett, AR, died Sunday, July 12, 2020, at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a former employee of Georgia Pacific Plywood Mill, a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, and a Veteran of the United States Navy.
He is preceded in death by one daughter, Constance M. Blakley; his father; Will Howard Blakley, Sr.; his mother, Helen Rhodes-Blakley; three sisters, Johnnie Holloway, Joyce Webb, and Jerry Blakley; and one brother, Will Howard Blakley, Jr. Luther, also known as Uber Driver, was always willing to carry people wherever they needed to go and loved sports, with basketball being his favorite.
He is survived by one daughter, Natalie Connell, husband Kevin, of Houston, TX; one step daughter, Rebecca Hendrix, of Crossett, AR; two sisters, Mittie Hawkins, and Victoria Singleton, husband H.S., both of Crossett, AR; two grandchildren, Jamia Jones and Bianca Newsome; four nieces, Janice Tharpe, husband Benny, Yolanda Williams, husband Maurice, both of Crossett, AR, Cassandra Sanks, husband Kourtney, of Fort Mitchell, AL, and Pamela Jarrett, husband Anthony, of Little Rock, AR; two nephews, Bobby L. Webb, wife Gracie, and Charles B. Bryant, wife Fristana, both of Crossett, AR; a riding buddy to Little Rock, AR, Danny Newton; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be Friday, July 17, 2020, 10:30 a.m., at Westview Cemetery, with Pastor Jessie Radford, Jr. officiating. Active Pallbearers are Kevin Connell, Charles Bryant, Eddie Wafer, Danny Newton, Maurice Williams, and Benny Tharpe. Honorary Pallbearers are his nephews, cousins, and his West Crossett tree friends.
Viewing will be Thursday, July 16, 2020, 1-5:00 p.m., at Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc., 600 E. St. Louis Hamburg.
