Loretta Jean Murphy, 86, of Crossett, formerly of Detroit, MI, died Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Cherry Ridge Nursing Facility in Bastrop, LA. She was a native of Omaha, NE.  She worked as administrative assistant for the American Heart Association and as secretary for Detroit Area Agency on Aging and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Detroit, MI.

She is preceded in death by two daughters, Krystal Murphy-Powers and Leslie Murphy; one son, Raymond Melvin Murphy, Jr.; her mother, Eula Blackwell.

Mrs. Murphy was a devout Christian who loved her church and her family. She enjoyed playing bingo, cooking and working on her computer.  She loved to help others.

She is survived by one daughter, Anita Jackson (Lawrence) of Crossett; eleven grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Services will be at New Bethel Baptist Church in Crossett at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 with Pastor Jessie Radford, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers are Matthew Maxwell, Dennis Maxwell, Joey Moore, Victor Smith, Luther Ray Burns, Sr., Luther Ray Burns, Jr., Dabeon Cooper and Kyron Lovett.  Burial will be in Westview Cemetery.
