Leroy Whitaker, Sr. 81 of Wilmot, AR passed Friday, July 18, 2025, at his residence in Wilmot.  He was a lifelong resident of Wilmot, a retired road grader for the Ashley County Road Department, and a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vickie Mae Whitaker (1998), parents, Elijah and Willie Mae McFerson Whitaker, four sisters, Marie Hymes, Mary B. Johnson, Airfredia Houston, and Mary Frances Whitaker.  Leroy enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Linda Hickman Whitaker, six sons, Leroy Whitaker, Jr (Inez) of Dermott, AR, DeWayne Rogers (Valerie) of Bastrop, LA, David Rogers (Brenda) of Texarkana, AR, Jeffery Rogers (Terica) of Texarkana, AR, Sam Hickman of Oak Grove, LA, and John Hickman (Lavatress) of Oak Grove, LA, two daughters, Lorase Denise (Corey) Whitaker of Monroe, LA, and Tara Hickman of Wilmot, AR, one brother, Elijah Whitaker, Jr. (Geraldine) of St. Louis, MO, five sisters, Maylize Smith of Parkdale, AR, Mamie Whitaker of Texarkana, TX, Mary Jewel Jackson of Little Rock, AR, Emma Lee Whitaker of Arlington, TX, and Bernice Whitaker of Conway, AR, twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and several other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Friday, July 25, 2025, 5:30-6:30 at Cromwell Funeral Home. Funeral service is Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Sweet Home Baptist Church with Pastor Albert Fenceroy officiating.  Pallbearers are LaRon Williams, James Edwards, Justin Hymes, DeMarcus Williams, Sr., Romey Williams, and Marquarios Spencer.  Honorary pallbearers are Leroy Whitaker III, Devin Whitaker, William Penn, William Thomas Whitaker, Burrell Parmer, and Troy Stanley, Jr.  Burial in Jim Smith Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, Arkansas.
