Mr. Lawrence "Sonny" Bankston, Jr, age 60, of Crossett, passed away Tuesday May 30, 2017 at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation facility in North Little Rock, AR

Mr. Bankston served in the United States Army. He was a lifelong resident of Crossett and an avid football fan. He was also passionate about playing cards and dominos.

Lawrence, known as "Sonny" by most, was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Bankston, Sr, his mother, Pearline Cason Bankston Franklin; two brothers, Gary Bankston and Ricky Earl Franklin; and a step-father Willie Franklin.

He leaves to cherish in his memories one son, Jason Demond Bivens of Crossett; two brothers, Stephen Bankston( Malaya   ) of Atlanta, GA and Lon Dale Bankston of Houston, TX; two sisters Carolyn Cromwell (James) of Fayetteville, NC and Channel Carter (Don) of Woodbridge, VA; his step mother Caroline Bankston of Crossett;  two aunts Florene Franklin and Synthia Portis ( Theodis) of Crossett ; and one Uncle Charles Bankston (Jacqueline) also of Crossett, along with a host of other family and friends.

Viewing will be held Tuesday June 6, 2017 from 1:00-6:00 pm at Cromwell Funeral Home in Hamburg.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday June 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at Gates Chapel, AME in Crossett with Bro. Jesse Radford officiating. Pallbearers will be Tony Williams, Glen Newton, Marcus Williams, Larry Moore, Eddie Wafer, and James Adams.

Burial will follow in Nimmons Cemetery south of Hamburg on Hwy 425.
