Obituary

Lawrence "Googie" Lamont Arnold, Sr., age 50 of Jacksonville, AR transitioned Wednesday September 18, 2024, at his home in Jacksonville, AR. He was born in Chicago, IL, but raised in Crossett and was a resident for 42 years. He was a 1992 graduate of Crossett High School. Lawrence was a resident of Little Rock, AR for three years and lived in Jacksonville for the past 2 weeks. He was a warehouse worker, and a member of Campground African Methodist Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Syncere Arnold (2009), his father Rev. Samuel L. Arnold, Sr. (2011), stepmother Evelyn Arnold, three brothers, Raymond Arnold, Samuel L. Arnold Jr., and Terry Fenison, and one sister Carolyn Cromwell. He was an avid athlete who enjoyed all sports including football, basketball, and track. He played college football for the Arkansas Razorbacks from 1993-1994, and later for the ULM Indians of Monroe, LA. Lawrence was a very friendly outgoing person who loved his children and family very much.

He is survived by his mother Katherine Fenison of Crossett, AR, three sons, Kahalil Arnold of DeSoto, TX, Lawrence Arnold II of Lawrence, KS, and Blair Arnold of Dallas, TX, five daughters, Sequoyah Todd of Fayetteville, AR, Rachel Sims of Conway, AR, Keshawna Arnold of DeSoto, TX, and Serinity Arnold of Detroit, MI, and Leilani Arnold of Benton, AR, seven brothers; Earl Burll wife Angela of Maywood, IL, Roger Fenison wife Vivian of Bastrop, LA, Connell Fenison wife Tracy of Monticello, AR, Aloyious Fenison of Crossett, AR, Michael Fenison wife Kenisha of Eudora, AR and LaDerrion Arnold of Dermott, AR, and Cleophus Robinson of Denver, CO, six sisters, Carol Fenison of Chicago, IL, Sheree Fenison of Crossett, AR, Sharon Whitaker and Meyonna Arnold both of Lake Village, AR, Peggy Brown husband Earl of Bastrop, LA, and Chanel Carter husband Donald of Woodbridge, VA, thirteen grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Funeral Service will be Sunday September 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Gates Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with Presiding Elder Tyrone Broomfield, Rev. Harriel D. White, Pastor Shalane Jenkins, and Rev. Bianca Mays officiating. Active Pallbearers are Jamaal Williams, Dreamus "Jody" Howell, Armondo "Bobo" Duke, Roderick Green, Charles Bryant, Lorenzo Smith, Kevin Durby, and Greg Williams. Honorary Pallbearers are Tracy Vann, Chaudrion Hughes, Quentin Yarbrough, Darrius Green, Johnny Mack Brown, Jr., Bryant Nelson, Dwight Hughes, and the CHS Class of 1992. Burial will be in Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc of Hamburg, AR.

Repast at the Mt. Zion Multi-Purpose Building in Hamburg.

Visitation will be Saturday September 28, 2024, at Cromwell Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00 PM.
