Mrs. Laverne "Von" Simpson, 72, of Crossett, AR died Monday, May 6, 2013 at Ashley County Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Crossett and was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by two sons, James Henry Caldwell & Willie Earl "Nick" Hodges, a great-grandson, Jadacus Hodges and her parents, Charlie Simpson & Bernice Colbert Hicks. Laverne enjoyed listening to music, fishing and cooking.

She is survived three daughters: LaCeasha Turner, husband Gvona, Sr., Angela Washington and Anika Tharpe, husband Benard all of Crossett, AR, one brother, Donald Hicks, wife Valerie of Carson, CA, one sister, Beverly Hampton of Warren, AR, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and a host of other family, loved ones and friends.

Funeral services are Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00 am at Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Harriel White, officiating. Pallbearers are Demarco Hodges, Gvona Turner, Jr., James Washington, Corey Hodges, Jalen Hudson, Wendell Martin,II. Burial in Westview Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.

Visitation from 6-7 pm Friday, May 10 at Cromwell Funeral Home.
