Laura Lee Strickland, age 88 of Wilmot, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Manor of Seagoville, TX. She was a native of Wilmot, a homemaker and a member of John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Strickland; her parents Pat Stricklin and Loula Cunningham-Stricklin; one brother, Leon Strickland; one sister, Martha Strickland-Smith.

Ms. Strickland was a loving mother who always enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and traveling. She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Earl Strickland (Alma) of Toledo, OH, Chester Strickland (Bobbie) of Pine Bluff and Augusta Strickland of Carrolton, TX; four daughters, Louann McHenry (Randolph) of Mesquite, TX, Deborah Mitchell of Dallas, TX, Jewel Harris of Bossier City, LA and Carolyn Griffin (Fredrick) of Milwaukie, WI; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Services will be Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00am at the John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church in Wilmot with Rev. Paul Slack and Rev. Marilyn Beckley will be officiating. Burial will be in Gospel Temple Cemetery near Wilmot.

Visitation will be from 5:30pm – 7:00pm on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the funeral home.
