Laura Lee Hampton, age 90, died Tuesday December 13, 2022, at Chicot Memorial Medical Center. She was a native of Portland, AR. She was a homemaker, and a member of Green Grove AME church in Portland, AR.

Ms. Hampton is preceded in death by her husband Willie Hampton, four sons John, Michael, Randy, and Bruce Hampton, parents Jack and Frances Gray Ridgel, three brothers Fred, Jack Jr, Aaron, and Joe Cephas Ridgel, three sisters Beulah Wilson, Juanita Ridgel, and Rose Lee Ridgel.

She is survived by four sons Dennis and James Hampton both of Portland, AR, Edward Hampton of Milwaukee, WI, Danny Steve Hampton and wife Mona of Lake Village, AR two daughters Tempie Lee Hampton, and Betty Hampton Payne both of Portland, AR, two brothers Johnny Ridgel of St Louis, MO, Richard Ridgel and wife Mary of Little Rock, AR, and a sister Bernice Polite of Dermott, AR, twelve grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Funeral service will be Wednesday December 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM at New Light Baptist Church in Portland, AR, with Rev. Gwain Hammock officiating. Pallbearers are Matt Webb, Philip Williams, Tim Dunbar, Leo Hampton, Angelo Hampton, and John Hampton. Burial to follow at Holly Grove Cemetery in Portland, AR. Viewing will be Tuesday December 20, 2022, from 1-5 P.M. at Cromwell Funeral Home.
