Obituary

Rev. Larry Wayne Johnson, 62 of Crossett, AR, died Monday, May 27, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Ashley County, had lived in California numerous years and had resided in Crossett for the past 18 years. He was a retired contractor and was a member of North Crossett First Freewill Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran, a Purple Heart recipient and had served in the Vietnam Conflict.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Megan Ballard, his parents: Rev. Larry Eugene & Clara Elaine Anders Johnson, two brothers, Rev. Danny Johnson & Roger Johnson. Rev. Johnson was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, camp, ride four wheelers and watch westerns. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially attending and cheering at their softball games.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years Mrs. Cathy Tanksley Johnson, one son, Jesse Johnson of Sidney, MT, six daughters, Leann Lively, fiancée Jarrett Sams, Mary Lou King, husband Chad all of Crossett, AR, Jennifer Reed, husband Al of Moreno Valley, CA, Melissa Ballard of Amarillo, TX, Rose Hopper of Bakersfield, CA and Stephanie Gill, husband Mike of Murfreesboro, TN, two sisters, Judy Crouch, husband Ed of Hamburg, AR and Diane Riordan, husband Rev. Norman of Downsville, LA, special friend Neta Huggins, twenty five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives loved ones and friends.

Funeral services are Friday, May 31, 11:00 am at North Crossett First Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Jason Bates and Bro. Ray Mills, officiating. Active pallbearers are Gale Anders, Jarrett Sams, J.R. Tanksley, Darren Minnieweather, C.J.Riordan, Billy Haen, Allen Hall and Timmy Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Chad King, Rusty Tanksley, Michael Haen, Caleb Riordan, Lee Riordan & Rudy Carrion. Burial in Promise Land Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.

Visitation Thursday, May 30 from 5-8 pm at North Crossett First Freewill Baptist Church.
