June 15, 1952 – September 15, 2018
Mr. Larry Arece Harris, 66, of Crossett, AR, died Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Ashley County Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Crossett. He retired from Georgia Pacific Paper Mill, after 41 years of service, as a machine operator. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church, where he served as assistant Sunday school superintendent.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Whitney Harris, in January 2018; a grandson, Gabriel James Albert Berry; his parents, Aaron Harris Jr. and Jessie Mae George Harris; and one brother, James A. George. He enjoyed working with crafts and had a natural talent for growing plants. He was an enthusiastic football fan, with the New Orleans Saints being his favorite team.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Wanda Washington Harris; one daughter, Arecia Harris of Tulsa, OK; one sister, Lois Harris Williams(B.J.); two brothers, Curtis Harris(Loula) and Aaron Harris III(Gwendolyn), all of Crossett, AR; five grandchildren, Sonwello Lewis, Jr., Trey Harris, Julian Craig, Motavious Harris and Chaynce Harris.
Services will be Saturday, September 22, 2018, at 11:00 AM, at Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Harriel White officiating. Active Pallbearers are Cornell Brown, Don Ford, Larry Moore, George Matthews, Ronald McDaniel, and Derek Molette. Honorary Pallbearers are Curtis Harris, Aaron Harris III, Sonwello Lewis, Jr., Trey Harris, Julian Craig, Motavious Harris, Chaynce Harris, and his brothers in law. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery, with military honors, under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc. of Hamburg.
Visitation will be Friday, September 21, 2018, from 5:30-6:30PM, at Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc.
