Mrs. Katherine Herron, 82 of Crossett, AR, died Friday, July 6, 2012 her residence (Frost Prairie Community). She was a Baskin, LA native, but had resided in Crossett for the past 53 years, was a retired R.N. and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Herron was devoted to her family and she enjoyed reading, quilting, deer hunting and fishing. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 49 years, Charles J. Herron, one son, Charles Aubrey Herron, one daughter Carolyn Herron Rizzo and one sister, Jean Lindsey.

She is survived by her husband of 8 years, Tom Akin, one son, James Herron, wife Sheila of Crossett, AR, one daughter, Joanne Herron of Crossett, AR, three step-sons: Fred Akin, wife Karen of Crossett, AR, Danny Akin of El Dorado, AR, Benny Akin, wife Paula of Chicago, IL, one step-daughter, Kay Gammel of Crossett, AR, two brothers: Jerry Quimby, wife Linda of Strong, AR & Max Quimby of Monroe, AR, five sisters: Faye Stansell of Columbia, LA, Linda Ringo, husband Marion of League, TX, Maxine Griffith, husband Joe of Anniston, GA, Nan Dutton, husband Glenn of Bastrop, LA & Gail Moore, husband Loran of Sante Fe, TX , one son-in-law, Ross Rizzo of Dallas, TX, three grandchildren, Riley Herron, Dustin Bridgeforth, Vanessa DeRuzzo, one great-granddaughter, Ashlynn DeRuzzo and three sisters-in-law: Inez Herron of Crossett, AR, Eulene Breedlove of Sheridan, AR and Gertie Haley of ElDorado, AR.

Graveside funeral services are Monday, July 9, 2012 at 2:30 pm at Bethel Cemetery in Holly Ridge, LA with Bro. Carlton White, officiating.
