Mrs. Joyce Block, 68 of Wilmot, AR, died Friday, December 21, 2012 at her residence in Wilmot. She was a lifelong resident of Wilmot, a social worker for the Arkansas Dept. of Human Services, Chicot County, and a member of John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mansfield & Rosia Yarby Edwards, three brothers: Thomas "T.C." and Charlie Walker, Havard Edwards & two sisters, Ruby Shelton & Dorothy King.

Mrs. Block was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She worked faithfully in her church. She served on the Hamburg School Board for 6 years, and was an Alderman for the City of Wilmot. She also served on the Chicot County Single Parent Scholarship Board.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Michael "Boo" Block, two sons: Jessie Block, wife Tara of Baton Rouge, LA, Edward Block, wife Adrian of Lowell, AR, three daughters: Darlene Todd, husband Danny of Greenville, AL, Rosia Block of Maumelle, AR, Mable Block of Wilmot, AR, three step-sons: Brian Parker of Mesquite, TX, Kenneth Block of Los Angeles, CA, Michael Block of Little Rock, AR, three step-daughters: Cassandra Wade, husband Richard of Little Rock, AR, Rosalind Lewis, husband Anthony of Allen, TX, Kadran Block of Conway, AR, three brothers: John H. Walker of Wilmot, AR, Dannie Edwards, wife Rosetta of Chicago, IL, Kenneth Stevenson, wife Joyce of Conyers, GA, three sisters, Tina Bell Gaston of Lake Village, AR, Hazel Edwards of Wilmot, AR & Mary Butler, husband Samuel of Wilmot, AR, twenty-five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and loved ones.

Funeral services are Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 11:00 am at John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church with Rev. Harold Shaw officiating. Pallbearers are Billy Kitchen, Larry Waters, John Metcalf, Charles Raino, Lloyd Williams & C.L. Clark. Burial in Jim Smith Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.

Visitation Saturday, December 29 from 6-8 pm at Cromwell Funeral Home.
